MINUTES OF JULY 15, 2008
PUBLIC SESSION

The notice of this meeting was prepared in the Office of the Board and mailed to the Secretary of State, the Star Ledger, the Trenton Times and the Courier Post.

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting of the Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Committee was called to order by Chairman Robert Shoremount at 9:40 a.m. in the Hudson Room, Sixth Floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey. All parties were duly notified of the date, time and location of this meeting and pertinent material was provided to meeting participants.

Attendees recited the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the roll call of members.

Committee members Edward Bagniewski, Arthur Fucetola and Richard Rible were unable to attend the meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Committee members were informed that Regulatory Analyst Maryann Sheehan will meet with the Committee at this meeting to discuss the sunsetting of the Committee’s rules, and the changes proposed at the Rules Subcommittee meeting held on June 17, 2008.

Committee members were also informed that the Staff has prepared approximately 25 business license applications and 30 individual license applications for Committee review.

The Advisory Committee has scheduled an Investigative Inquiry for this meeting with an applicant who has applied for a locksmith license. Additional information has been provided to the Committee for the inquiry.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2008

Upon the review of the minutes of the May 20, 2008 Public Session, motion was made by Robert Boyer, seconded by William Hartung and unanimously passed to approve the Public Session minutes for the May 20, 2008 meeting.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT

Executive Director Cook informed the Advisory Committee that 338 fire alarm, burglar alarm and locksmith business licenses have been issued and 35 business applications are pending licensure.

Motion was made by Robert Boyer, seconded by Jon Sprague and unanimously passed to approve the recommendations made by the Continuing Education Subcommittee.

- Whether A Locksmith License is Required To Perform Maintenance Of Specialized Locking Devices At The Mercer County Correction Center

The Advisory Committee reviewed and discussed correspondence received by Mercer County Division of Central Services with regard to whether a locksmith license is required to perform maintenance of specialized locking devices at the Mercer County Correction Center. Upon review, the Advisory Committee requested that Mercer County Division of Central Services be informed that a licensee is required to perform maintenance of specialized locking devices at the Mercer County Correction Center.

Motion was made by Charles Okun, seconded by Keith Eaves and unanimously passed to adjourn the Public Session at 10:15 a.m. and proceed into Executive Session.
