NEWARK - Reni Erdos, Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs and a long-time Union County resident, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of Managers of Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights.
Erdos, appointed Consumer Affairs Director by Governor James E. McGreevey in May 2002, has a long record of public and community service in Union County. She has served on several freeholder advisory boards, including Hospice and Home Health Care, Environmental Health and Status of Women. Erdos also worked as an assistant county counsel in the Union County Counsel's Office.
"Runnells Specialized Hospital serves so many Union County residents and it's my privilege to help guide the hospital as its dedicated staff and administrators plan and work towards the future," Erdos said. "We're all committed to meeting the present and future needs of county residents."
Runnells Specialized Hospital features a physical medicine and rehabilitation center, long and short term nursing care, hospice care and psychiatric services.
"Nursing services in particular are so vitally important as our population ages," Erdos noted.
Her two-year appointment to the hospital's Board runs through December 31, 2006.
Erdos resided in Summit for over 30 years before moving to Scotch Plains three years ago. As Consumer Affairs Director, she oversees a 700-member staff that enforces the state's Consumer Fraud Act. The Division also licenses more than a half-million people in nearly 80 professions and occupations.
Erdos' professional experience also includes serving as Director of Federal Legislation and Legislative Services for the New Jersey Hospital Association and as Executive Director of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology.
